Nilfisk WAP and KEW- A Brief History

Nilfisk WAP and KEW- A Brief History

WAP

Founded in 1957 WAP was one of the first major cleaning equipment manufacturers in Germany. Nowadays Germanyis synonymous with cleaning equipment excellence with well known brands like Karcher, Ehrle and Kranzle.

Since it was founded WAP developed into a major player in pressure washer and vacuum cleaner production and was instantly recognisable by its mustard/ orange coloured covers on its cleaning equipment. In 1999 WAP joined the ALTO group. As mentioned the quality of WAP machines like the AQUA meant that many are still going strong almost 15 years after that acquisition, and are likely, with the right care, to go on performing strongly. Spares for your WAP, KEW and Alto pressure washers and vacuums are still available through Nilfisk dealers.

KEW

In 1971 KEW Technology Industries was founded as one of the early pressure washer and cleaning equipment manufactures in Denmark. Like WAP KEW was very recognisable by its light blue covers on its machines. It was responsible for scaling down a pressure washer traditionally used on ships and rigs into a small machine that was perfect for home use. The result was the KEW Hobby, an incredibly robust machine that is still being used and serviced to this day.

The reputation forged by machines like the Kew Hobby gave the brand a reputation for quality. Other popular hot water machines like the 15A2v,  1602v and 40HA and cold water machine like Dynamic, Professional, 30CA and 02K. Kewmade acquisitions of cleaning equipment manufactures like Clarke and Maxxi before themselves being bought out by Alto, who were later acquired by Nilfisk Advance.

Nilfisk
